my brain isn't working.

Blazer: The Limited Thrifted, Tank: Steinmart, Necklace: F21, Shorts: Cut from Jeans, Shoes: Kohl's

Today I feel dead.
I felt great when I woke up this morning--like I'd actually caught up on my rest. But around two this afternoon my eyelids got heavy and my speech was a little slurry.
It's a good thing my desk faces a wall and not the front door because I felt completely unaware of everything happening around me.
We were up reals late last night doing ministry stuff. The fun kind. So, before I go back to Love-ology tonight, I'm taking a moment to document my fatigue on the world wide web while I lay all cozy in my bed for thirteen more minutes.

I hope they have good snacks tonight.

i wanted to be a designer.

Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory, Leather Jacket: Charlotte Russe, Top: Fashion 123, Jeans and Shoes: F21

This is what I wore on Easter. Pretty casual, I know. There is this little thing inside of me that makes me want to do the opposite of what everyone else does. It's probably annoying. My point being, I wear black on Easter. But the pink shirt reminded me of an Easter egg and I springed it up with the yellow necklace. We were at church all day so I wanted to be comfortable.

Tonight I am going to this little craft night thing where I am going to learn how to sew. I always wanted to be a fashion designer, and even though I never will be, I'd still like to learn how to use my sewing machine so that I can fabricate some of the ideas that have been floating around in my head since 1999.
I haven't even un-jammed my darn machine and I've already brainstormed my first fashion line.

I'm feeling ambitious.

we go through phases.

Sweater: Steinmart, Tank: don't remember, Jeans & Boots: Kohl's, Bag: Urban Outfitters

In the past it's been Joe's Burgers, Chex Mix, Chocolate Milk, smoothies, Sushi Hana, pina coladas, American Dream Pizza, McDonald's french fries & Mocha Frappes, paninis, and fish tacos.

And our current addictions include Pop-Tarts, turkey bacon, Hot Plate, and sugar coated gummy candies.

What are yours?

i'm bringing it back.

Necklace: Steinmart, Shirt: Old Navy, Pants: Thrifted, Shoes: Target

I am not the one that brought back the high-waisted-pants-with-shirt-tucked-in look, but I am oh so glad someone else did. I can now bend over to tie my shoes without throwing a hand back there to cover any bum/panties that may be exposed because of the ULTRA LOW RISE jeans I am wearing! Amen to whoever brought back the modest is hottest look, I can now use both hands to tie my shoes.

I am, however, bringing back a couple sayings.

My latest is "as if". Whoa 1990's throwback! I like totally think of Clueless (skip to 1:10) whenever I say it and it makes me feel cool.

I pretty much say it when I think something/someone is funny. Like, instead of saying "As if she were an actual teacher..." I just say "As if!"

I can't really think of another saying that I am bringing back right now, but you should know that I pretty much speak my own language which consists of abbreviated words, made up words, and words used out of context. Since Ian is the only one that understands my language. And my dad too. I have to censor myself in public because I either sound like a loon or a ditz--As if!

P.S. I posted about my attempt at being more hospitable on my other blog

we drove around and shopped.

Denim Top: Old Navy Thrifted, Belt: Thrifted, Dress: H&M, Tights: Target, Boots: Kohl's

Hola Little Pretties!
Yesterday was so beautiful here!

Ian and I spent the day downtown looking around some cool vintage furniture stores and were getting a lot of inspiration for decorating our house! (Update: We put an offer in and the seller accepted. Now we have to wait for the bank's approval which could take up to six weeks...)

Then we ate lunch at Por Que No and it was just so tasty!
I've recently discovered that I am allergic to bread, noodles, and cheese. Three of my all-time favorite foods. Until I figured out what was making me sick after every meal, I didn't really enjoy eating. But now that I've figured it all out I enjoy eating more healthily for my body. And let's be honest, I think allergies are kinda cool.

We drove by our house [that we made an offer on] and realized that it is sandwiched between two PINK houses... and ours is red. My least favorite colors together; pink and red. I can live with that though because one of our first projects will probably be to paint the exterior. And then maybe I won't be able to notice the pink as much. Or it will be like on Curb Appeal where once one of the houses looks really good it inspires the neighbors to do something about theirs.

We'll see.

Pretties, how do I reply to a comment but make it send in an email?
I just don't get it...

Thanks!

i hate breaking the rules.

Sweater: Thrifted, Top: Forever 21, Necklace: F21, Jeans: Miss Me, Shoes: Target

I like to think of myself as daring and bold, so what I'm about to say/already said in my title is going to make me sound like a dull old lady.

I hate breaking rules.

Actually, I'm so boring that I don't take risks even when there are no expressed rules anywhere. It's like, I'm in a situation and my shoulder angels pop up, but instead of one being good and the other being evil, they're just both good.
I just hate getting in trouble I guess!

There is this place Ian and I always park at downtown because it's free for customers. Even though we don't shop there we park there anyway and just go in and buy some candies, that way if we ever got a ticket we'd have the receipt to prove that we were paying customers (my twitchy idea).

A couple weeks ago we parked there when we went to dinner. In an attempt to restrain my high strung tendencies, I told Ian that we didn't need to go buy me my Mentos this time. And although I'd rather pay $2 for some candy over a $40 ticket, I was willing to take my chances!

We had the best dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and then we went to a shop.
We walk back to the car and IT'S NOT THERE.

I almost cried.

Ian called the number on the towing company sign and they said if we picked it up by midnight they'd only charge us $210. If we were a minute late, however, they'd bump it up to $450.

Ian wanted to take a cab and, even though I was in heels, I refused to pay another dime that night because I'm also high strung about finances. A $210 car tow was not in the budget,  so there sure wasn't any room in my wallet for a cab ride!

We walked across the city all night until we finally reached our shady destination. You'd think with all the money they make from towing cars the place would be a little more luxurious! (Yes, I just said that).

I actually felt really sorry for the guy that had to work there all night.
He was standing behind this glass window thing and he said it was because people get so mad they used to spit on him. That's sad, but I tell ya, I felt like spitting that night!

This instance is precisely why I hate breaking the rules. Even if you've pulled it off before, there's always the risk of getting caught the next time and it's just not worth it!

P.S. I did a guest post on budget-friendly shopping over at Urban Nester

i get what they're saying.

I get what they're saying about Toaster Strudels being flaky and moist compared to Pop-Tarts. And I mean, although the contrast they show on the commercials is pretty dramatic, it's also pretty accurate. But I'm proud of my Pop-Tart and all of it's dusty, perforated,  unevenly frosted glory!

I have no outfit pictures today since my photographer is in a long long long meeting until after it gets dark. So I had to opt for these really glamourous snapshots of me and Mista Pop-Tart!
I'm waiting for my coffee to cool in the fridge so I can attempt some sort of cold caffeinated concoction that isn't soda.

Then it's just me, Mista P.T., cold coffee, and endless episodes of Ugly Betty on Netflix.
Actually, those endless episodes are gonna end sometime soon because I am on the last season... dizzang!

what's a day off for?

Shirt: Forever 21, Scarf: Thrifted, Purse: Lost, Jeans: Forever 21, Shoes: UrbanOG.com

What is the purpose of a day off?
Are you supposed to relax?
Or are you supposed to be productive?
I guess I like to go out and do stuff that I find fun but still leisure. And then I make sure we have plenty of time to lay around later in the evening.
My favorite part of a day off is just getting to spend it with Ian!
He is truly my best friend and we always have so much fun together.
Today we cleaned my car...
We are THAT fun!

Do you use your day off to be productive? Or would you rather relax?

multipurpose mascara.

Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory, Shirt: BCF, Skirt: Liz Claiborne Thrifted, Tights: Ross, Shoes: Joey

Peeps! Two days ago I looked in the mirror and all I could see were my ROOTS.
Like oh my gosh. My roots lit looked blonde compared to the dark top of el ombre.
All that kept flashing in my mind were the Nice 'n Easy commercials.
And since I didn't have the product nor the time...I just used an old mascara and applied along my part.
You can still see hints of my not-actually-blonde-but-looks-blonde-next-to-the-dark-brown roots in these pics. Especially towards the front.
(I didn't want it smeared across the top of my forehead.)
This might seem like somewhat of a Tracy technique, but I figured that if you can put it on your eyelashes you can put in on a teensy bit of your hair.

I need the salon MAJOR.
Peace & Blessings.

Awkward & Awesome.

Before my lists of awkward & awesome moments from this past week, my roll of awkward pictures from my outfit shoots:

Ian wanted me to pose by this fire hydrant, and I think right about now (as I was attempting to lean against it) I was wondering how many dogs have peed on this one.

I always make Ian pose before he takes my pics so I can test the light. And he always gives me his fiercest look!

Just severe gusts of wind ruining my little photo shoot...

Pom-pom hand and step-together...

Awkward:
-The old man at the hardware store that randomly said "Now we can't keep seeing each other like this" as I walked down the aisle. I said "What do you mean?" and he said "I was just joking." I did a little nervous laugh and five minutes later he said "So how are you?"...
-Mom reading my blog word-for-word to my grandma while sitting on the same couch as me.
-When everyone turns around looking for me when Ian mentions me in his sermon. I just don't get it.
-The little curvy triangle at the bottom of the windshield that never gets swiped by the wipers when it rains. Drives me crazy!
-Sitting by myself at the airport. I always think I like being alone, but for some reason when I am I feel the need to pull out my non smartphone and pretend to text someone. You know you do it too!
-My grandparent's dog starting her menstral. Call me immature, but I get such a kick out of this large lab walking around in a doggie diaper! Hahaha!

Awesome:
- Waking up in sunny (and warm) California for five days! I'm so ready for actual Spring weather in Oregon!
-Being scouted to be in some commercial when I was in line at Target. Too bad I wasn't seventeen or younger. I should have lied about my age because that could've been my big break!
-Spontaneous kissing in the kitchen. With tongue. What? I love my husband and I want the world to know!
-Waking up and getting ready for work together at the same time! I love having a job and that I work at the same place my husband does. I feel an office romance coming on...
- Discovering at the dinner table that my cankles ankles have shrunk since I've been running every day for the last eight days! Ian was baffled that you could lose weight on your (my) ankles. (He doesn't know because he lit has the skinniest ankles ever.)
-Fish tacos and homemade salsa!

i'm a working girl!

Sweater: Old Navy, Necklace: F21, Tights: Burlington Coat Factory, Belt:Thrifted, Skirt: Thrifted, Boots: Kohl's

That's right my peeps! The impossible has finally been made possible and I have a job!
The best part is that I get to work with my husband!
I'm just a little office assistant at the church.
Doing computer correspondence and errands here and there.
Today was my first day and I got to wear this pencil skirt.
Then I came home and rested for a tad and then made fish tacos and homemade salsa!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!

home sweet home.

Sweater & Shirt: Steinmart, Pants: Nordstrom Rack, Shoes: Kohl's

It is so good to be home!
Ian and I had a staff dinner party last night (I went straight there from the airport) and it was so fun! Even after a long travel day it was good to jump right back into "family" time. I just love the people that Ian works with (and I will be working with them too, starting tomorrow!). They have made it so easy for us to transition and fit in. They really look out for us and we all get along so well! I'm pretty sure we all love spending extra time together outside of work.

Also, today we went and looked at another house.
We didn't like this one, but it helped us realize that we had true feelings for this other house that we will hopefully be putting an offer in on later this week! I'm so excited! And of course, once things are official I will share more details about the house.

homesick.

Sweater: Steinmart, Purple Tank: Target, Belt: Thrifted, Jeans: F21, Shoes: Kohl's

I'm flying home today and I am so excited!
As much as I love California, it makes me feel weird.
Besides being homesick and regardless of the beautiful sunshine, I just feel nostalgic.
Not only do I get sentimental remembering part of my childhood here, but I also just feel like I don't belong here!
I feel like I should either be retired or on a reality show : )

In the end, I love visiting my family here, but I love my life in Portland and can't wait to get home and hug my little honey!
