leopard and pink.

Scarf: Thrifted, Necklace: made it maself, Blouse:H&M, Jeans:f21, Shoes:Target

I bought this blouse at H&M in Amsterdam and I thought it was a really rare European purchase that none of my friends could get, until I realized that our H&M here sells the same blouse.... Dangz. Also, I can't believe I didn't get a picture of the back of this blouse. It has buttons all up and down and reminds me of that Mary Mack song that says "... With silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back."

copy cat: any excuse to wear my camel blazer again...

Camel Blazer: Thrifted, Scarf & Jeans:f21, Top: Target, Clutch:Gift, Shoes:Zigi Soho DSW, Bracelet: Gift

By Friday, my creative juices are usually dried up and I'm ready to throw on some jeans, boots, and a sweatshirt. But, since I work on Fridays I must dress up a little more, so I just copy what others wore. Straight up.
Even though I'm wearing four inch stilettos, I get to wear a cozy scarf and a messy bun.
Thank you Miss Kim Kardashian, for having great style so that I can pretend to!

the little one.

Scarf: Husband's, Sweater: Old Navy, Jeans: f21, Shoes: Urban Original

Not to sound conceited or anything, but isn't my dog adorable?
I just love love love him! He can do really neat tricks and he's really well behaved (as long as there isn't any food around). I'm so proud of him :)
I used to think it was weird when people would be really obsessed with their dogs and call them "fur baby" and stuff, but NOW I TOTALLY GET IT.
I even watch him while he sleeps...

the walking tear duct.

 Denim Jacket: Thrifted, Sweater/Top: f21, Necklace: BCF, Bracelets/Ring:Gift, Shoes:AGACI, Jeans:f21

Oh my goodness everyone!
I have been crying so much lately it is not funny. It's sad. I feel like my mom.
I cried during the Shamu show at SeaWorld, I cried during the Anne Frank movie, and I *started to tear up* when I thought I was going to have to sit alone at church on Sunday (for some reason I was feeling extra lonely that day). I even cry when I think about how cute my dog is.
I swear something inside of me has changed, and it's not a baby.
It's probably my old age?

obsessed with him.

Jacket: Charlotte Russe, Sweater: Thrifted, Leggings: Everlast, Socks: Sock Drawer, Shoes: Urban Original

Before I say anything, I just want to thank the 1980's for this wallpaper that hangs in our kitchen and tell you that is is OK to be jealous. I would be too if I saw it in the background of your photos.
You're welcome.
On the topic of kitchens--well, kinda:
Lately, I've been so obsessed with my husband.
Like, I've always been head-over-heels for him, but lately I've really been rejoicing in the fact that I am the one that gets to cook for him when he forgets to eat, pinch his shoulders when he's been hunched over at his desk for too long, or vacuum the floors so the house is nice and clean for him when he gets home.

Call me old fashioned, but I love being a housewife.
I think I enjoy serving my husband and maintaining our home because I have been working a lot lately.
But my heart's desire is that my first priority will always be to serve my husband and then our children by taking care of them and keeping a beautiful home.

feathers in may+winner.

Earrings: c/o Feathers in May, Top:Thrifted, Jeans:f21, Bag:Urban Outfitters, Shoes: Urban Original

Hello Little Pretties!
Are you enjoying Fall as much as I am? Well, I actually haven't had a chance to do many fall things and I pretty much hate anything pumpkin tasting/looking, so I'm kind of going through October with one eye closed and the other barely opened so that I know when to expect an end to all this pumpkin-spice madness! There are a couple things I like to decorate, wear, or cook in the Fall and those are:
1. Corn
2. Feathers
3. Crunchy colorful leaves
As you can see above, I am wearing one of my lovely sponsor's feather earrings. I absolutely love these long brown earrings because they kind of make me feel like I'm on a farm with turkeys--in the trendiest way possible, of course. It's not so much a dirty farm with animal smells as it is a farm where you go to buy fresh seasonal produce... in case you were wondering.
{ahem}
Anywho, I can't believe I spent $25 on my other feather earrings that you've seen me wear on here, because Tammy's go for $10-18 and they are JUST as dramatic (which you all know how much a love drama).
This is not a review, and I get no perks from writing this, but these earrings would be a great stocking stuffer or holiday gift/just plain pretty with any outfit.
Want a pair of your own? Go shop around at Feathers in May on etsy.

Also, the winner of the Shabby Apple necklace giveaway is Aub-a-rey from Love & Some Verses! Congratulations!

my new thang.

Sweater:Target, Blouse:Banana Republic Thrifted, Jeans: f21, Shoes:Urban Outfitters

I've never really been into reading books, but lately my favorite way to unwind is reading a magazine in bed. Our neighbor, Margaret, gave me a bunch of her old magazines and I'm just loving them.
I actually strategically plan to get in and out of the bathroom before Ian so that I have extra minutes to read before I start feeling bad that I'm keeping him up with the light on.
Better Homes and Gardens is my new thang.

sponsor frills.

Shirt:f21, Scarf:Africa, Skirt:Marshalls, Purse:LuLu's, Necklace:f21, Shoes: Madden Girl

This is pretty much exactly what I wore while in Africa.
{Minus the accessories.}
And actually, these pics were taken in Amsterdam on our way home from Uganda, so I really had no other option than to wear some of my modest African garments.

Also, I am now accepting sponsors here on frills!
I never thought this day would come, but whatdoyaknow, it has uh-rived.
Email me (or read the sponsor tab) for more deets!

mr. wetzel's little friends.

Scarf: Ross, Jacket: Old Navy Thrifted, Top:Target, Shorts: Old Navy, Tights: Burlington, Boots: Kohl's

After a morning at church, Ian and I went out to lunch and to return some things at Target and the mall.
Lately, I've been against eating sugar because ever since Africa it makes me sick.
BUT
I was overcome by the sweet sweet aroma of Auntie Anne's cinnamon pretzels and obv had to stop and get one.
They were out.
But then we found Wetzel's Pretzels and they had so many delicious options.
We decided on the cinnamon "bitz".
I wasn't planning on sharing with Ian because I'm just not that generous when I have a craving, but they seriously handed us a bucket of sugar-smothered pretzel bitz. There were easily about three large pretzels cut up into pieces in that carton. So I gave him half.
After about six I felt like I needed to drink a gallon of water, but we weren't home yet so I waited a little for my saliva to wash down some of the sweetness and then I just kept eating.
About .008 seconds later, when I entered my sugar-induced coma, my head was bobbling and my eyes were blurred and I looked down at my lap and sugareverywhere. I brushed some of it off and the rest I just pressed with my finger and licked off.
Christmas gift idea for Sarah: Gift Card to Washington Square Mall so that I can spend it at the food court.
I have a feeling Mr. Wetzel's little friends are my new best friend.

dining room chairs.

My first project for the house actually took place before we even had a house. I saw a crusty old dining set at Goodwill for $60 and just had to snatch it. I normally wouldn't buy something this large until we had a place to put it, but I'd been wanting an oval dining table and since this one was so cheap and came with five chairs, I couldn't resist. We made room in our 1 bedroom apartment by keep disassembling the table we had before and keeping it in the back of Ian's care for a couple weeks. And I kept all four of the chairs in the back of my car. Luckily we found a house.

Here is a picture of what our old dining set used to look like (for the heck of it):

And this is what our "new" dining room chairs looked like when I bought them:

Well, I reupholstered the cushions (still can't believe I convinced Ian to let me do pink) and sprayed the frames white:

And voila:

Posing by the window (and the succulents Ian got me):

And here is a close-up of my centerpiece. It just kind of happened and I gotsta admit I like it.

I will post more pictures of the actual room when there is better lighting and if I ever get around to picking up the extra curtains, baskets, and vases that have been living on the floor in there since we moved in... It might be a while.
