my perfectionist part.

Blazer: the limited thrifted, Pink top: H&M, Boots: Nordstrom, Purse: Urban Outfitters

Our house has been in shambles lately.
We've had a lot of company over the last couple weeks which means clean house to mess it up again. And then clean it again for the next guests.
I love having people over, but I just always feel like everything has to be perfect.
I don't just feel like it should, but I really want it to be.
We have too much furniture with nowhere to put it, paint swatches taped to the walls, and dishes almost always on the kitchen counter. And I let those imperfections get to me.
Recently though, I've been telling myself that things don't always have to be perfect.
I do think things need to be comfortable and it always helps when things are beautiful, so that you can rest and your guests feel expected and welcome. But comfortable and beautiful doesn't always mean finished and perfect and just-the-way-you-want-it.
And I'm learning to be ok with that.
What about you? Are you a perfectionist? Do you ever let those tendencies take away from enjoying life and the little things? What do you do to control that?

I used to let all that get to me, but I work really hard to let it go sometimes.

  3. I am the same way. I cannot stand when things are not in their place or dirty dishes are in the sink..ugh. I think I have a problem. On another note, your thrifting skills are quite amazing my dear. I am in Portland, do you thrift in Portland or where do you go?

  5. I tend to be a perfectionist too but the older I get the more it just exhausts me so I've learned to let some of it go and just do what I can do. Love your blazer- great find!

  7. I do not keep a super clean house, but for some reason, I go nuts trying to make it look like I do if we are going to have guests. The only times I deep clean the house are when we are having people over.

  8. No. Totally not a perfectionist. Nor am I clean. My friends -- real ones, at least -- already know I'm messy, and they still love coming over.

Lovely outfit. The white blazer is crisp and lovely.
