copycat-- third time wearing leopard.

Does it surprise you that I chose to copycat another leopard look? It was unintentional, really. But then I realized it. Ha.

Glasses: (prescription) Michael Kors, Sweater: forever 21, Blouse: thrifted, Jeans: f21, Boots: Restricted Gallop Riding boot DSW.

I'm thinking of making this a monthly series, what do you think? Do you enjoy doing it every Friday? Or would it be easier if you only had to worry about it once a month? Let me know!

Don't forget to add this button to your copycat post:

my birthday at the beach and i need your help.

Feeding a seagull, complimentary cookies, blinding sunshine, dating my husband, take-out, popcorn shrimp, antique mall, birthday taffy, and chocolate milk...
A restful getaway it was!

Onto what I need your help on:

I absolutely love blogging and appreciate all your comments.
But I'm running out of things to write about!
A lot of people are going around saying that they "blog for me", which I think is cool because it's important to enjoy what you do.
But the thing I love most about blogging is interacting with you Little Pretties.
Therefore, I like to write about things that both you and I will love to read.
Maybe I've been over thinking it?
I feel like I'm just sucked dry of inspiration. Especially since I'm currently working on a half-dozen posts for this blog.
What do you like to see me write about? Do you come here for fashion inspiration or for the written content? In other words, would you hate it if there were outfit posts without a whole lot of words?
Is there anything you want to know about me that I could use as a blog post prompt?
Holla at me.

Also, I will be back tomorrow with a CopyCat look. Get the button code here if you are linking up!

all about my hair.

Sweater: Thrifted, Shirt: American Eagle Thrifted, Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory, Jeans: f21, Shoes: Urban Original similar here.

I've been growing my hair out for the last two years.
With nothing more than a minimal trim, it has taken this long to get this long since my post wedding chop-off.
Not impressed.
Now that it's long enough to do stuff with, I don't do anything with it.
I always wear it the same way.
Down with curls.
It's been driving me crazy lately because it's been getting suuuuuper thick and heavy.
Turning into more of a mane than long, smooth, supermodel hair.
Time for a change?
Probs not.

Thanks for reading this super interesting post about my hair.
And don't forget to take CopyCat pics and link up this Friday!

the power of forgiveness.

Whether you’re over sensitive or too bitter to feel anything, we’ve all been hurt in some way. Why is our first reaction when wronged to seek revenge? To lash out. To scream. To tell off. To gossip. To hate and make sure everyone else hates the person that wronged you too?

My only explanation: hurt people, hurt people.

People that have been hurt in someway, whether it was self-inflicted (think over-analyzing a situation) or undeserved abuse from another, we always want to get back. But is that right?
Forget whether or not that’s the right way to act, but does it help you feel any better?

Remarks and behavior that once used to hurt me, are now making me a stronger person. Why? I’ve been trying hard to forgive people –for both the little things and for the big things. Regardless of getting an apology or even an acknowledgement, because those may never come. Forgiveness sets you free to continue moving forward in life. It keeps your self worth from being dependent on what others think of you or how they treat you.
Forgiveness enables you to love others at your full capacity!

Who do you need to forgive, today? Depending on how deep the hurt, forgiveness will be a process—sometimes a long one. But life is too short to let thorns of bitterness overgrow your heart, and the reward of “letting go” is so worth it!

To close, I will leave you with this quote my husband always says about bitterness:
“Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies.”

As if that's not obvious enough, I choose to forgive because Jesus has forgiven me.

my golden birthday was yesterday!

Sweater: f21, Blouse: vintage: Jeans: f21, Boots: Restricted from DSW, Purse: vintage, Necklaces: Burlington Coat Factory.

I think I was about eight when I learned what a golden birthday is and was bummed when I realized I had to wait  fourteen years for mine.
I'm happy to announce that I finally turned 22 on the 22nd!
I must say that this past year of life has been the best so far. And I don't say that every year.
For instance, the year before was probably my worst.
It was filled with hurt, stress, and transition.
But this year was different.
We've finally settled into a rhythm that works for us, making life more comfortable and enjoyable.
We're more confident as a couple and as adults.
We've also been blessed to cross major things off our bucket list (like a trip to Africa and purchasing our first home).
21 was a great great year and I'll forever look back on it with fond memories.
Cheers to 22!
I pray that I'm stretched more so that I grow more. That I can be more mindful of others. And that I can find more ways to show love to my husband.

copycat--liquid & leopard.

Beanie: Vera Wang, Sweater: Thrifted, White Shirt: Target, Liquid Leggings: YesStyle, Clogs: f21, Bag: Charlotte Russe.

I must admit that I was a little nervous to copy this outfit.
The combination of liquid and leopard looks surprisingly classy on the model, so I thought I'd give it a go.
I'm glad I tried it for myself because I think it's a super fun look and I adore wearing unexpected items in unexpected ways!

Who did YOU copycat this week?

Make sure to add this button to your post:

Thursday 13: unlikely wishes.

Blazer: The Limited thrifted, Heart Tee: f21, Pants: Vintage Ralph Lauren, Bracelets: gifted, Flats: Urban Outfitters, Glasses: Prescription Michael Kors, Clutch: Ross (similar)

Today I'm linking up to Aunie Sauce's Thursday 13 series. Today's topic is unlikely wishes. Mine are:

1. That every day was 72 degrees but some were snowy, some were rainy, and some were sunny. I love seasons but hate being too hot or too cold!
2. That I could switch hair colors, lengths, and styles as often as I wanted too. And that they'd all be cute on me.
3. That I could fit literally everything in my purse. Like Miss Poppins.
4. That it would stay sunny/sunset-y until 9:30pm year-round.
5. That I could open my oven and POOF! a warm, hearty, healthy meal would appear!
6. That my dog's breath wouldn't smell so that I could snuggle him all the day long.
7. That I could own a house in every style in different parts of the country. I'm thinking a colonial on the east coast, a beach cottage in Santa Barbara, a condo in Hawaii, a penthouse in New York, and a cabin in Montana.
8. That I could please everyone. Always.
9. That I would never step on something wet while wearing socks. Ever.
10. That I could fly.
11. That I could have as many true friends as I want.
12. That I could live in Disneyland.
13. That my thoughts and ideas could be typed up as I'm thinking them. Without me having to type them. I would never forget anything!

Well that sure was fun! Link up on Aunie's blog if you want to participate next week.
And don't forget to post your copycat looks tomorrow and link up here!

a peek inside my closet.

I fear many of you believe I have a never ending supply of garments in a Narnia-like wardrobe.
The truth is, I do not.
So I'm giving you a little (very little) tour of the extent of my closet.
Here she is! Well, my half anyway:
Some of Ian's stuff is to the left.

These are my wintery shoes (I do have one more shelf thing like this with summery sandals in another closet). As you can probably tell, shoes are my weakness:

(And yes, that is the original green carpet in there).
Below we have ALL of my shirts. From top to bottom we have cardigans, blouses, PJ shirts, scarves, sweaters, and printed shirts. They are all there:

Here are my earrings and pants, jeans, and shorts:

Up top we have a few sweatshirts and a couple other shoes:

The thing I hate most about my closet is that beyond those hanging organizers, you really can't reach the other three feet of closet space back there. The doors don't open that far. So, that's where I keep all of my dresses:

There's not much to it!
I know this is a lot more than many people have in their closet, but my favorite thing is to mix and match and rewear items. You really don't have to have a whole lot to develop your personal style and put together some amazing looks!

And a huge thanks to everyone that participated in last Friday's CopyCat series! Can't wait for this Friday!

copycat-- a teal blazer.

Here is the look I chose for week 1 of my new CopyCat series!
I've been eyeing this outfit for a while now and since I thrifted a teal blazer, thought this would be the perfect time to copy this lovely lady's ensemble:

Do I get extra points for kinda posing like her?

Blazer: vintage, Blouse: thrifted, Jeans: Levi's, Shoes: Zigi SoHo from DSW, Watch: Burlington Coat Factory.

Here is the button you must, must, must attach to your copycat post:

The rest of you that are participating this week (thanks!!!)  link up here so that we can all see your looks:

awkward out takes.

In honor of Awkward & Awesome Thursdays over at The Daybook, I scrounge up my awkward photos from the past week of outfit shoots and post them here for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy:

I call this pose "The Shower".

This I call "Playing with Tongue Ring and Doing Something Weird with Hand".
(I don't actually have a tongue ring)

This is "The Grumpy Old Man" look:

This one is too good to have a name.

And last, but not least, "Running from Bear".

Don't forget about to post your copycat look tomorrow and link back here!
