CopyCat-- neon & stripes

It's been raining the last couple days and I was too busy doing stuff around the house to actually get dressed and take pics. But I used a different method of copy-catting instead!

my husband.

Scarf: f21, Jacket: Charlotte Russe, Sweater: thrifted, Purse: vintage D&B, Jeans; f21, Shoes: Urban Original

At dinner I asked Ian what he wanted to do for the rest of the night.. without hesitation he replied "Whatever. I just want to make you happy."
That boy...

what the books don't tell you.

Blazer: The Limited thrifted, Floral Top: Nordstrom, Jeans: f21, Shoes: Urban Original

Three things I've learned so far about pregnancy, that have yet to be mentioned in the books:

1. Black is slimming, but not when all the crumbs from your frequent snacking have planted themselves on your lap.

2. Don't be alarmed when you wake up twenty minutes into bedtime in a puddle of drool. Extra saliva is normal. But the weirdest part is waking up three hours later, with a dry mouth, thirsty enough to drink a jar of pickle juice.

3. Pray to the Lord Most High for a patient husband. The nights you call him from the other side of the house to come turn your lamp off (the one that's right next to you on the nightstand), you're gonna want him to respond in love.

P.S. The CopyCat link-up is happening THIS Friday!

the vow.

Sweater: Thrifted, Belt: f21, Floral Top: Fashion 123, Jeans: Fashion 123, Shoes: f21, Purse: H&M.

We finally saw The Vow.
It was actually a week or so ago, but let me just admit that I cried through the whole thing.
It was!
There were only about eight other people in the living room-sized theater which made it hard to ugly cry in the corner and yelp things like "I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO UUUUUUUSSSSSSSS!!!!" without embarrassing Ian (and myself). So, instead I resorted to a single tear every so often and saved the yelping for the car ride home.
For the record, I loved the movie.
And I still don't want it to happen to me.

Also, this is a reminder that the next CopyCat link up is happening THIS Friday!

Sweater: Thrifted, Neon blouse: f21 (last year), Belt: f21, Pants: Levi's, Shoes: f21, Purse:

We're back from our little getaway (will share more on monday or someday).
It was quite relaxing, but today we are both back to work!

he never stops pursuing me.

Blouse: J. Crew thrifted, Leggings: YesStyle, Boots: Nordstrom.

Tonight we're going to a hotel just because.
Hotels are kind of our thing and even though this one isn't far beyond town, it's still special.
Special because Ian planned it all by himself since I've been saying that I want to stay at a hotel.
He's just the sweetest in the world and he always finds ways to make me feel special.
Wait for a  gentleman like mine, ladies. They're out there, I promise!

our little lime.

Sweater: Husband's thrifted, Shirt: H&M, Boots: Kohl's.
{11 weeks pregnant}

Am I seriously that big???
I don't know if I'm arching my back or pushing out my gut in the above photo, but I think I look bigger than I actually am... And if I'm actually that big, I guess it means there's a healthy little lime growing on inside me.
We are finally less than half way to finding out whether our little one is a boy or a girl! We seriously cannot wait. Props to those of you that wait to find out, but I'm way too big of a planner ahead-er and we gotta keep things interesting throughout these nine loooooong months!

Earrings: Bird Crap via Etsy, Sweater: Thrifted, Floral Tank: Nordstrom, Pants: Levi's, Shoes: Forever 21, Purse: Vintage D & B.

No, this is not another gross pregnancy post that will scare you out of having kids.
Although, it may have something to do with being pregnant... I'll never know for sure.
It could also just be this time of year.
Some days are sunny and some days are snowy and some days are sunny and snowy.
It's usually around March that I feel the need to go tanning--which is a big deal for me because I am highly against it.
But there is just something inside of me that's ready for something new (as if adding a baby to the family isn't new enough...). Fresh skin, new look, exotic vacation.. Heck, I've even been saying that I want to move back into an apartment. Or maybe a townhouse to switch it up. Of the two I am undecided.
I think it's because we can't get the wallpaper off of the future nursery's walls beyond a sliver here and there. I doubt I actually want to move...
Why don't I know this about myself????
Anyway, I can't stop brainstorming ways to scratch this nagging itch.
Some ideas are more drastic than others, but maybe I'll start by hiring someone to peel off the darn wallpaper.

Am I the only one feeling this way?

layering season.

Blazer: The Limited thrifted, Cardigan: Thrifted, Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory, Orange top: Old Navy, Striped Tank: Forever 21, Boots: Kohl's.

Ian told me that I'm good at layering.
I don't know if I'm good at it, but I'm convinced that layering is the only way to stay warm and colorful through a loooooong Fall-Winter-Spring season.

pregnant moment.

Conversations like this happen...

I guess my theory of looking like I ate too many hot dogs wasn't too far off.

10 weeks and feeling large.

Blazer: Vintage Nordstrom, Top: f21, Necklace: f21, Boots: Restricted DSW, Purse: Urban Outfitters

I wish I had a shirt that said "Hi, I'm pregnant", because I tell ya, if body image were ever an issue for me, it's now! I mean, I'm certainly not complaining. I'm just self conscious that people think my waist is expanding because I've eaten too many hot dogs or something because I'm just looking a little pudgy and not quite pregnant yet.
(If you've ever been pregnant, you know what I'm talking about. And if you haven't, I probably sound conceited and you'll understand one day.)
I should probably be soaking in the last days of fitting into my regular jeans, but instead I usually resort to stretchy cotton garments that don't slice into my squish.
I'm looking forward to wearing lots of dresses in the summer.
That could be cute.

mirror, mirror.

Neckalce/Watch: Burlington Coat Factory, Shirt: Old Navy, Jeans: Forever 21, Shoes: Target (old).

I have a love/hate relationship with my new 8X mirror...
I love it because it saves me the embarrassment of thinking I have flawless skin, when in fact, I do not.
And I hate it because it reminds me that I do not have flawless skin.
I've used my mom's mirror before and thought it was about time I get one of my own, as a precaution, since I've been reading about troubled skin/sprouting facial hair during pregnancy... you think I'm kidding.
Oh the joys of growing human life within your womb!
I thought I was looking pretty good until I unwrapped my packaged magnifying mirror and one look and I'm like whooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
And then I somehow managed to tweeze off half my face until I reminded myself that no one but my mirror can see my face 8X close and the blonde fuzz could stay.
tmi? hahahahahha!

other ways I've worn it:

Necklace, necklace, shoes.

boys do yardwork while girls go shopping.

Necklace, Tank, Sweater: H&M, Purse: forgot, Jeans: Forever 21, Shoes: Urban Outfitters.

Ian's parents stayed with us last weekend and we had so much fun!
We stayed up late, chatting on Friday.
And on Saturday (after hitting the neighbor's yard sale) the guys ripped out every single bush that had overgrown the front of our house, while us girls went shopping for some non-maternity-maternity clothes. You know, the kind that stretch and hug and hide all the right places.
Needless to say, I had a lot of fun with my mother in-law!
I think that was the first time we spent doing something together, just the two of us.

how this baby came to be.

A few of you asked just where this baby came from...

Was it a surprise?
Were we "trying"?
How long did it take?

*When I hear about the battle of conception happening in other women's lives, I feel guilty for my story.  Maybe it will offer you the little bit of hope you need to keep your chin up!

Around Christmas time, Ian and I started seriously considering starting a family. We kept going back and forth but ultimately concluded that a baby would be wayyyyyy better than any reason we could think of to delay it.
I used the Lady Timer app to track my fertility/ovulation (I obviously recommend it), and by the time I ovulated in January, I was pregnant!
When I didn't start my cycle on the day I would've (January 28) I took a test and within seconds it came up +!
We were ecstatic when we found out and drove down that day to our parent's to tell them the news.
Another bonus is that some of our best friends found out they're pregnant five days before we did!

The truth is, I just feel so incredibly blessed!
I'd always feared that I wouldn't be able to get pregnant (probably because I wanted it so bad).
Not to mention, the miracle that it is; everything has to collide at the perfect moment in time in order to form a tiny human...
I will love this baby no matter what.
Not just because I'll be it's mom and that's what moms say, but because I feel so honored that God is entrusting me with this gift of life (despite the ever-expanding waist that comes with it ;)

Also, Brittany is featuring me over at The Daily Bruski. Head over there and say hi!

what i wore the day i saw my baby for the first time.

Necklace: Burlington Coat Factory, Flannel: Ross, Sweater: Thrifted, Purse: Urban Outfitters, Jeans: Forever21, Boots: DSW.

And yesterday we fiiiiiiiinally got to see the baby in our first ultrasound.
Ian cried a little and I wanted to.
I was too focussed on how bad a had to pee when she rolled the little scanner thingy around my belly. But I promise, I was moved.

If you're looking for a bump, it's not quite there yet.
Well, sometimes it is. Especially after I eat a big lunch...
It may appear for blog pics one of these days.

And incase you're wondering, I'm about to hit 9 weeks. Very early to tell the world (for some people) but we are praying that the little baby stays all safe and sound in my growing uterus.
Will you pray for that too?
