Our house is finally beginning to show signs of welcoming a new baby. 

We have been nesting like crazy... and all of our recent projects are the kind that actually show the fruit of our labor--it's so rewarding!

I can't wait to show you pics of all the changes! If only I could keep the house tidy long enough to click a few pics...

Greyer's room is probably still the most hazardous. Which only makes sense because it's the one room we've been working on that has a door to close off from the rest of the house. And then I just forget about it for a while. 

The good thing is that we have all of our furniture pieces waiting to be assembled, but we just have to sell this big white dresser first, to make room. 

And, our proudest accomplishment has been removing all the wallpaper in that room! It was by FAR the most tedious process, and the worst in the house, but Ian spent days in there and with the help of family and friends, the walls were finally ready to paint! YAYZ.

But let me show you what the room will look like once we put it all together with the help of my hand-dandy mood board I created: 

As you can see, we are going for an eclectic vintage look that is pretty gender-neutral.

The only item missing from this board is a little hot air ballon mobile that has been hanging in my grandma's house for forever! I am so excited she said I could have it for Greyer's room! 

Also, the brass birds pictured above are from Ian's grandma's house. She gave them to us when she moved out and I am seriously in love with them! I plan to make some sort of art piece with them to hang over the dresser. 

Making a mood board of items you love before buying anything, makes the shopping process much more efficient and effective.

(You only end up purchasing items you love and that look good together rather than a bunch of things you like and think will look good together).

It's day four of hearing your musical bike, but I've yet to actually see you drive by.

On day three, I actually went as far as running to the street corner to chase you down. But the music stopped and I couldn't figure out which way to go next.

Do you live in the apartments behind our house? 

Is the musical ice cream truck only a means of transportation to you?

Or are we just beyond your route that you can't provide this pregnant lady with an icy dessert?

Here is my outfit from yesterday! 

I've had this dress since last year and didn't think it'd lay properly over my bump, but it actually does!

I kind of felt like a little girl wearing these sandals with a summer dress and pinned back bangs, but whatevs. 

I just wear whatever I fit into these days! 

Also, yes, I have finally purchased a new camera (Canon Rebel EOS XS) and these pics were taken with my even newer 50 mm 1.8 lens. Still figuring out how to use it completely since a lot of these are still slightly blurred, but we'll get there! 

Off to the lake!

Ian had yesterday, today, and tomorrow off from work so we are spending them together doing fun things!

Yesterday we stayed around the house mostly, just tidying up and doing little things. We also rested because this mama was getting a sore throat. 

Last night we had our neighbor-friend over for dinner and she brought her two puppies to play with Gunner. It was such a blast and quite a zoo with three crazy dogs running around all night! Haha! 

Anyway, after observing our love for anything vintage, she told me about a vintage fabric store that she loves to go to called Knittn' Kitten. It was a tiny little place in the middle of nowhere but it had so many cute things and SUCH great prices! 

There were so many great fabrics to choose from, but since I don't really know how to sew/my sewing machine is broken, we left with just this orange corduroy fabric for our dining room chairs. AND we got 3 yards for just $9!

Our next stop was Vintage Pink on Hawthorne. This is one of our favorite stores around here and we always leave with something! 

I'm obsessed with anything brass and gold is my favorite color so, it's no surprise that this little brass bird caught my eye. He was only $20 but we passed.

I'm also a sucker for retro/vintage chairs and this one was my fave:

I'm pretty sure this is just a vintage planter with fresh succulents that I could make myself for a much lesser price tag, but the colors made me drool so I had to snap a pic.

And here is my handsome prince modeling for me.

In the end we walked out empty handed but then went back after lunch to get this guy:

Yep, a glass he-she head that cost us $15 and now lives on our dining room table. Although I'm uncertain of his vintage-ness, I die for anything odd/unusual, so we had to go back and buy it. Also, the bottom of his/her neck is open so it could be fun to stuff him full of seasonal decor or something... 

After Vintage Pink we tried out Portland's American Dream Pizza. Corvallis (our hometown) houses two American Dream's and we were curious to see if Portland's was the same. Although it has a different menu, it tasted almost identical! It is by far the best pizza I've had since we moved here.

Our last [unexpected] stop was Sesame Donuts. A place we drive by all the time but have never actually tried. It was of course, tres delicious! 

We came home and Ian napped. And I ran to JC Penny's (MY NEW FAVORITE STORE EVER) to get a dress I can fit into. Then, thanks to a friendly neighbor, we explored our neighborhood forest and picked the only ripe blackberries there were. 

It ended up being such a fun day with Ian. We both just kept saying "Wow, this is just the best day."

The weather was gorgeous, the shopping was thrifty, and the food was tasty.

Recipe for a great day, I'd say!

Tomorrow we're going to the lake to lounge and play.

And we also booked our anniversary trip to Seattle last night! That's not until September, but I am just GIDDY with excitement : )

You read that right, folks! 

About a year ago I self-diagnosed an allergy to eggs. They are one of my favorite foods ever; scrambled, flat, hard boiled, etc. And due to severe stomach cramping, they couldn't be mine for the frying anymore : ( 

Well, my co-worker told me that sometimes pregnancy can kind of take over an allergy to where you can actually eat it without getting a reaction. So naturally, since he is a prankster and I'm obsessed with eggs, I just started off with a little nibble here and there.

NO REACTION PEOPLES!!!!!!!! 

Then, since I've been reading over and over again how good certain eggs are for you while pregnant, I decided to buy a half-dozen to hard boil and make into egg salad.

I forgot I was boiling eggs in the middle of the afternoon and approximately ONE HOUR later, my episode of The Hills was interrupted by some sort of explosion happening in the kitchen. 

I ran in and shielded my eyes from the flying eggshells that greeted me. 

Then I just screamed because that's what you do when you're pregnant and you need help.

Ian came running in and saved the day. But I was still upset because I needed those eggs.

Fast forward to two days ago when I went back to the store and bought 1 whole dozen eggs! 

I fried one eggwhite and ate it completely reaction free! 

Then I ate another one yesterday.

And now I'll probably have another one today for lunch even though I have leftover stir fry I was saving for lunch! 

I'm just so giddy :)))))))))))) 

S + E = reaction free!!!! 

This could literally be a chant. 

And I can get away with being this obsessed with eggs because I'm pregnant and pregnant ladies are allowed to be obsessed with food thankyou.

Yesterday was a hard day. 

Like, a really hard day. 

The kind that feels like it's never going to end.

You take two naps and that just makes you feel like you're living in a nightmare...

BUT, it ended perfectly.

We watched American President and ate Taco Bell. 

Yes, Taco Bell. Even though I am thoroughly against fast food and we'd already eaten dinner.

The nights I go to bed saying "I had a great day today, babe." Are always the days filled with little things. Unexpected things. Enjoyable surprises.

Never are they the days that I have all planned out and everything in line.

And even though yesterday started out terribly, I still went to bed saying that I had a great day.

What does a great day look like to you?

Productive? Lazy? Surrounded by people or a day to yourself?

As a cheapy I purchased for Africa last year, I don't particularly love this dress, which is big for me to say with a mother who taught me never to buy a thing I don't love.

Since I wore a t-shirt over it in Africa, I never noticed the perfect placement of those flowery things across the bosom...

Let's just say I feel a little bit like The Little Mermaid. 

And let's just say I did a little bit of adjusting before these pictures were taken.

Why the heck am I wearing it if I don't love it and I have to twist it all around??? 

It's one of the only things that fits me these days, especially when I don't want to wear pants in this heat we've been having. Plus, I should be honest and say that since Africa, I have grown to love this dress. 

If only for the memoriezzz.

We came home late the other night (like 12:30am) and Ian found some people in our yard.

I had already gone inside, but he was letting Gunner out one last time when he happened upon three dark shadows in our side yard.

Luckily they were females, which made it a little less creepy??? 

They said they were just trying to prank our neighbor (a young single guy mindlessly playing video games in the window that faces our house), and their Nerf guns, war paint, and giggles proved it to be true. 

Ian came inside and told me what he'd found and when he went back out to close the garage door they were scheming on our driveway... 

They frantically explained that they'd exhausted all their options in trying to scare our neighbor and were now asking Ian's advice as to what to do next.

Ian didn't have an answer, but I say they should start by getting off our property! 

Harsh? Only because they are young (probably my age) giggly girls.

But things would not be as funny under any other circumstance or had my brave husband not seen them before I did and inquire about what they were up to!
